Spring Photography in Rural Wisconsin
May 1
5-16, 2010
Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin

Overview:
This intensive two-day workshop combines classroom
instruction and hands-on outdoor photo shoots along with free-
time for your own photo exploration. The workshop will focus on
improvement of exposure management, composition and
camera control while capturing spring images of the beautiful
Driftless area of southwest Wisconsin.  The workshop is
designed for the beginning/intermediate digital photographer
who is looking to expand his overall skills.  Workshop size is
limited to 8 photographers.

Our palette is the beautiful and rugged Driftless Area of SW
Wisconsin where we will seek images of spring wildflowers as
well as the beautiful color-painted valleys, orchards and farms
of the area.

Location:
The workshop will be hosted by Bob Denny Photography and
the elegant Inn at Lonesome Hollow located in Soldiers Grove,
Wisconsin, about an hour west of Madison.

Class-room Content:
1)  Elements of exposure management
- shooting mode choices - Tv, Av, or M
- shutter speed or aperture selection
- metering strategies
2) Composition
3) Fill-flash
4) Close-up photography
5) Image manipulation, output, projects
6) Next steps for growing as a photographer

Photoshoots and Critiques:
Complementing the classroom instruction will be an outdoor
photo shoot each day along with free-time for your own
exploration.

Afternoon classroom time will also be devoted to
reviewing/critiquing images shot by workshop participants.

Equipment required:
1) digital camera with zoom lens that allows creative control of
camera functions (shooting mode with independent control of
shutter speed and lens aperture)
2) sturdy tripod
3) spare memory card

Most of my workshop attendees bring digital SLR's or
advanced, fixed-lens digital cameras.   These cameras provide
the controls and flexibility that will be the basis for our
classroom instruction.  If you have questions about your
equipment, please contact me.

Laptop Computer and Photoshop
Workshop participants are requested to bring their own laptop
computers for image downloading and manipulation during the
workshop.  We will be sharing images via a video projector so
we all can benefit from the creativity of the group.   While this
workshop is not a Photoshop course, we will make reference to
photo manipulation software and will utilize Photoshop Elements
as our software of choice

An Epson 2200 pigment ink printer will be available for use by
the workshop participants.  Paper and Ink charges will be at my
cost.

If you have questions about hardware requirements contact Bob
Denny Photography for help and advice.

The workshop will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, May
