A chemical engineer by training, I have spent most of
my professional career in the business world,
specializing in training and marketing communications.
I have been capturing the world around me on film and
most recently on digital media for over 30 years. On the
technical side, my days of black and white darkroom
chemicals and Cibachrome filter packs are over ……
today, my darkroom is a PC screen ..... I'll leave the
debate of film vs. digital to others.
My focus in photography can be summed up by the
difference between a snapshot and a photograph. In
my mind, a snapshot is a mirror of the complex world
around us …. foreground, background, complexity, and
randomness. A photograph, on the other hand, seeks
to find focus and order in our everyday world and
evoke an emotional response. Pixels and megabytes
are not the issue.
I seek through my images, workshops, and
photographic services to bring the fun and rewards that
I have experienced to other photography enthusiasts.
My wife and I share time between residences in
LaGrange, Illinois and Buchanan, Michigan.
